Weeks 2 and 3 of Term 4

What a busy couple of weeks Nevaeh has had again in Ruma Tui. We have been working on lots of turn taking, shapes and emotions. There has been some wonderful opportunities for turn taking with friends while playing out in the sun and also with some of the awesome resources we have. After a bit of patience and some false starts,  Nevaeh really enjoys turn taking and waits really nice for the next go. 

RDA has been amazing, Nevaeh has been a wee bit more interested in Sandy the horse, and waiting to say "thank your after her ride, also some beautiful riding skills and a wee bit of cantering. 

The class are also learning an end of the year dance, which we were able to join in a practice for the first time this week, and wow did Nevaeh enjoy this! She was in her element. I would say "dance" and there was the biggest smile and she would be moving to the beat. One of the photos is also Nevaeh with her wonderful certificate for her beautiful colouring in skills. 

Pictures and Video Term 3

Hi team, sorry this blog post is a bit late, but how nice is it to see everyone back at school over these past couple of weeks. Nevaeh was certainly happy to see her friends. It was a great first day back on her first Thursday, lots of laughter and language, Nevaeh walked into class and went and straight to her desk opened it up to see what she could find. We have been have regular breaks between activities and recording some of these amazing moments. Nevaeh is certainly expressing herself through language and emotions more at the moment. We are currently working on "today I am happy" and using a happy picture 🙂 also on Epic with short books about emotions, happy, sad, angry. Nevaeh seems really engaged in these short stories and I am loving hearing her say "happy" it's the cutest wee voice. I think building on modeling verbal communication and symbols will be really helpful and enjoyable for Nevaeh over the next couple of weeks and into term 4. Hope you guys enjoy the videos and pictures of Nevaeh and seeing how happy she is being back at school with her friends and in Runa Tui.

The past few week have been very busy for Nevaeh, RDA has been wonderful in settling and continuing to work on Nevaehs posture. Nevaeh is always excited to see the ladies at riding, smiling and singing on each ride. We also have had Sam over for physio at the pool, this is a real highlight in the week, Nevaeh really enjoys working hard in the pool, just not so keen on getting out to get dressed. 

The past few weeks on the Coast has seen a wee bit of rain, so rainy day lunch times inside have required some inside entertainment, i have added a photo of Nevaeh enjoying a movie with her class mates, it was nice to see her enjoying herself alongside her friends. 

Nevaeh's First Go at Poetry

Nevaeh had her first go at doing the poem and going through the process of sticking in the poem and then doing some drawing in her poetry book. Nevaeh looked like she was really enjoying having a go at this. Go Nevaeh and Olivia you guys did a great job! They even got a Hapu counter.

Using Stylus Hand Over Hand

What a great day Nevaeh had today.  We didn't have a stylus go flying and Olivia and Nevaeh worked together using a stylus.  This was a new program that she hasn't really used before so was not used to using her hand.  So we had an idea that we will use the stylus on any new program on the iPad.  Awesome work from Olivia and Nevaeh!

First Few Weeks 2021

Nevaeh and Olivia have settled into Ruma Tui and I think they are both enjoying the interaction with the class. It was great to see them both joining in with a Kahoot on a Friday. Nevaeh was looking at the TV then looking at the screen and I am pretty sure she knew that she was doing the same thing that the rest of the class was doing.
