counting, sorting and exploring

Over the past couple of weeks Nevaeh has had a couple of days off school with a cold ,winter bugs are around for sure. But this week Nevaeh was back to her old self and ready to learn. We have been concentrating on ways to extend Nevaehs interest in counting, she loves the number 6 and has really enjoyed counting up to 6 and then on to 10,great language being used and using different things to count with. We are enjoying the abacus 🧮 at the moment and had lots of fun talking about colors and counting with it also turn taking. We have also enjoyed the black and white posting box from Jane. Nevaeh really enjoyed posting back objects and white into the correct side of the box, getting very fast each time. 

Sensory work plus big the skateboard

Abit of messy play being explored this week. Thanks to Jackie for supplying the fun stuff and kick starting Nevaeh on her discovery of some different smells, textures and sounds. Nevaeh was abit unsure at the start but with a little song and some patience we were successful at getting the hand on for a wee touch. The macaroni was a great sound and feel in the shaving cream,still not so keen on the play dough. Friday seen the cool attraction of the "big skateboard" that came to vist Kaniere School. Nevaeh absolutely loved this, she was super interested and smiled as she walked around exploring the skateboard, she touched it and felt the wheels, while alongside her class mates. 

week 5

what a week! Busy busy. Nevaeh has been back after having a couple of days off last week and straight back into a full on week of learning, exploring and achieving. We loved our visit with Sam, who spent sometime in the schools sensory room, playing with different textures and some ball games and also trying out the new  "peapod" for the first time . It was a nice warm, quiet space to have some fun. Nevaeh is also enjoying the regular Ukulele seasons still with Naomi and Ruma Tui, she has the biggest smile during this and loves when everyone sings "the wheels on the bus". She likes to walk around having a look how everyone is playing.

The past few week have been very busy for Nevaeh, RDA has been wonderful in settling and continuing to work on Nevaehs posture. Nevaeh is always excited to see the ladies at riding, smiling and singing on each ride. We also have had Sam over for physio at the pool, this is a real highlight in the week, Nevaeh really enjoys working hard in the pool, just not so keen on getting out to get dressed. 

The past few weeks on the Coast has seen a wee bit of rain, so rainy day lunch times inside have required some inside entertainment, i have added a photo of Nevaeh enjoying a movie with her class mates, it was nice to see her enjoying herself alongside her friends.
